The AIR iPhone was developed by Joe Johnston of Knoware. It will allow users to make calls, take calls and capture voice messages through their computer. Using the Ribbit API, Joe was able to turn his AIR iPhone into a fully functional phone, receiving VoIP calls as well as regular phone calls directly from the phone within a web browser.
The AIR iPhone will first be made available to registered Ribbit Developers and later it will be available for everyone at ribbit.com.

My name is Joe Johnston and I created the AIR iPhone. I work for Knoware, a design studio that is focused on the user experience not the technology. I have been playing with AIR since it was code named Apollo and I'm currently building applications in both Flex and AIR, creating amazing user experiences for my clients.
When I heard about Ribbit, I already had my AIR iPhone in the making but the opportunity to integrate VoIP into the app and make it a fully functioning phone was very exciting. Such integration into Flex or AIR applications is almost unheard of so this was a great opportunity to create something uniquely functional.
Using the Ribbit API, I had the AIR iPhone making and receiving calls in a matter of minutes. All you do is import the swc, insert the code and hook up the handlers and your done! Now the AIR iPhone can make calls, take calls and provide visual voicemail all through the iPhone UI and it only took minutes to do.
